VIRTUALIZE COMPUTE INTENSIVE SERVER WORKLOAD
For organizations running compute-intensive server workloads such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Deep Learning (DL), and High Performance Computing (HPC). NVIDIA vCompute Server (vCS) is software that enables the NVIDIA GPU to be virtualized to accelerate compute-intensive server workloads with features such as ECC, page retirement, peer-to-peer over NVLink, Multi-vGPU.
How does GRID license activation work?
When a customer purchases NVIDIA GRID licenses, they will receive (sent directly by NVIDIA) a Product Activation Key (PAK) with their license entitlement. Licenses are downloaded using the PAK from the NVIDIA Licensing Portal and installed onto a license server. The VMs (Virtual Machines) connect to the license server through network (external or customer’s internal network) to check out these licenses. The VM will run even if they are not able to connect to the license server or there is a shortage of licenses.
What happens if the license server breaks?
While VMs continue to check for licenses from the license server, the license is not required for a VM to run. If the license server breaks or is not accessible the VM will still run as with full GRID functionality.
How does GRID licensing model work for vComputer Server?
For the moment, only Annual Subscription model is available for 1 year period as defined by the terms of the subscription license. To be kept active, the subscription license will need to be renewed at the end of the subscription period. The subscription license includes the software license and production level SUMS for the duration of the license subscription period.
What does vCompute Server offer as exclusive features compared to GRID vDWS?
vCompute Server supports NVIDIA NGC GPU-optimized software for deep learning, machine learning, and HPC. NGC software includes containers for the top AI and data science software, tuned, tested, and optimized by NVIDIA, as well as fully-tested containers for HPC applications and data analytics. The server virtualization capability & NVIDIA Compute Driver stack for compute purpose is also available only with vCS. However, vCS does not support Windows OS, does not contain NVIDIA Quadro Driver and does not support DirectX/Vulkan. vCS must be used with at least 4GB vGPU profile (-C profiles).
vCS is available under "Annual Subscription" ONLY. Download the product sheet for marketing information or contact your PNY regional sales manager for more details.
